As an RPN/RN, our Support Team Lead plays an important role by ensuring our Members are cared for on their medical side, and are comfortable, happy, engaged, and well cared for while at Memory & Company.

As we have a universal approach to care, our Support Team Lead also takes on the roles of the Support Team by participate in programs, activities, and care assistance.

  • At least one year of relevant experience as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) or Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Knowledge and experience working with people with Alzheimer’s and related dementias
  • Membership in good standing with the College of Nurses
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, decision-making and assessment skills
  • Ability to lead a team environment
  • Physically fit, can sit, bend and stand for long periods of time
  • Can lift up to 35 lbs
  • Mentally fit to meet the emotional demands of caregiving
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification

Recreation Manager

Memory & Company operates 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week.

Monday – Friday with alternating weekends.  Some special events may occur on evening and weekends.

The Recreation Manager is a key leadership position at Memory & Company responsible for the overall management, leadership, and success of all recreation programming.

The Recreation Manager reports to the Executive Director and is the key leader managing the supervision of all Support Team Members in their day-to-day role.  The Recreation Manager is expected to work with Members and Support Team Members for most of the day leading and participating in activities, and delegating Support Team Members to lead programs and activities.

The Recreation Manager will manage all recreation scheduling, budgeting, purchasing, planning, and organizing. 

As Membership increases in the Oakville Club, the Recreation Manager may be required to work occasional weekends when required or other times when necessary for leadership.

The Recreation Manager is also responsible to recruit, discipline, communicate with facilitators and oversee volunteers and students that may come to Memory & Company and assist them with a successful experience.

  • A diploma from a recognized College or University in recreation therapy or activation with a focus on Gerontology or similar experience or education
  • Self starter and able to delegate effectively
  • Minimum 2 years management experience
  • Comfortable working in a Universal Care environment
  • Physically fit, can sit, bend and stand for long periods of time

Executive Chef

The Executive Chef is the life and the personality of the open-concept kitchen

Memory & Company operates 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week.

Tuesday through Saturday preferred, typically 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.  Some special events may occur on evening and weekends.

Hours and days a week can be discussed.

The Executive Chef is responsible for the overall dietary needs of our Members. The Executive Chef is also responsible for cooking made-to-order breakfasts, enjoyable lunches, snacks, and dinners daily for Members, in an open concept kitchen.

The Executive Chef plans and organizes the weekly menu, manages the kitchen budget, places all kitchen orders, creates fresh and healthy food for upcoming meals and snacks, and reviews menus on a regular basis to ensure Member satisfaction and nutritional guidelines.

The Executive Chef ensures the kitchen is clean and organized.

Once Oakville Club is ramped up to capacity, the Executive Chef will also supervise a Cook to assist in the demands of the role.

  • Food and Beverage Management certificate or diploma, or post-secondary culinary program an asset
  • Friendly, approachable, energetic, social, and can multi-task well
  • MUST be comfortable working directly with people living with Memory Loss
  • Must understand varying dietary needs and follow medical diets as directed
  • Minimum 3 years previous work experience in restaurant, retirement community, hotel, and/or banquet facility
  • Ability to lead and manage the entire kitchen
  • Excellent chef, who is excited about challenges, and cooking exceptional food
  • Passionate about seniors, excellent social skills, and good energy as this is an open-concept kitchen
  • Computer proficiency is essential
  • Must be able to stand, walk, lift up to 35 lbs., and bend for long periods of time
  • Willing to follow direction and ask questions for clarification if needed
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills
  • Ability to understand and implement regulations such as the Health and Safety Act, and Food Handlers program regulations
