Memory & Company has been, and will continue to keep apprised of COVID-19 to keep our Members and Team safe. We have taken a proactive stance, ahead of Government and Regulatory advisories, implementing policies and procedures that are based on facts, history, knowledge, epidemiology, and common sense.

We have been able to stay informed by communicating directly with Public Health, Police, Fire, Paramedics, Municipal Governments, and the Emergency Management team charged with keeping the entire City of Toronto safe.

The policies will evolve as we monitor and respond with a measured approach. Please keep up-to-date by reading this page regularly.

After a year-and-a-half, we are confidently re-opening our Premium Day Program today.

To ensure the safety of all our Members, 100% of our Team has been fully vaccinated and chose to do so voluntarily.

We are accepting returning and new Members who are fully vaccinated. Proof of vaccination is required.

The take-home rapid test kits are provided free of charge. Results and daily self assessment screening can be reported to us by clicking the button at the top of this page, or by clicking here.

Late Update: Thursday, September 17, 2020, 8 p.m.; PDF updated Friday, October, 30, 2020, 9 a.m.

The Province now requires all families visiting families to, within the past month before the visit:

    • Read Memory & Company’s visitor policy
    • Read Public Health Ontario’s document entitled “Recommended Steps: Putting on PPE”
    • Watch Public Health Ontario’s video entitled “Putting on Full PPE”
    • Watch Public Health Ontario’s video entitled “Taking off Full PPE”
    • Watch Public Health Ontario’s video entitled “How to Hand Wash”

For your convenience, we have the three documents linked in the red boxes above.

We will also have the material available at the Club if you are experiencing difficulty viewing them.

Late Update: Friday, June 19, 2020, 5 p.m.

Yesterday, Provincial policies finally allowed families to visit those staying in Long-term Care and Retirement Homes.

We understand the toll this may have taken on people’s mental health, especially those with loved ones living in places that had no alternatives made available to them. We wish them a joyous reunion.

Update: Friday, March 20, 2020, 5:30 p.m.

Despite the recent the closure of our Premium Day Program and short-term Respite Resort stays, and the new policies our Staff have adopted, we will be maintaining the risk level for the Club at medium.

This will serve as a reminder to not allow ourselves to become complacent. We will continue to strive to stay ahead.

We commend all Adult Day Programs who have taken the brave step to follow our lead in closing ahead of regulation. We know how difficult the decision was to make, and the consequences it has on the people you serve, the team you employ, and perhaps even the sustainability of the business itself. It has brought us solace that the families of our Club Members have not only been understanding, but even supportive, telling us we have done the right thing.

Update: Monday, March 16, 2020, 6 p.m.

In a proactive, holistic stance, Memory & Company will be suspending the Premium Day Program and all short-term stays at the Respite Resort starting Wednesday, March 18, 2020. The right thing to do is not always the easiest thing to do. This cannot be more true in this decision. We know how this will negatively affect those who have come to depend on us to look out for your best interest, but in the same vein, we simply could not guarantee that our own Day Program and short-term respite Members would not unknowingly bring the virus into our very social Club.

This decision was made in concert with:

    • science-based consultation with an epidemiologist, infectious disease specialist, and medical microbiologist,
    • facts that those 65+ with underlying conditions are most susceptible, and
    • knowledge that the Federal and Provincial authorities have stopped visitors in LTC/Retirement Homes for the safety of their population

With this suspension of service, we are effectively doing our part to eliminate social gathering, thereby protecting the health and lives of as many as possible.

Those who are directly affected by this have been emailed or telephoned personally by Ashley, the owner and Director of Operations.

Please contact us if you have any questions, or need assistance finding a temporary alternative solution.

Update: Monday, March 16, 2020, 6 p.m.

  • The risk level at the Club has been raised due to a scientific analysis of potential risk. We will be taking measures to return the risk level to low.
  • In the interim, no non-essential visitors will be allowed access to the Club until further notice.

Update: Saturday, March 14, 2020

  • We will be waiving all additional service fees, and providing all personal product (continence products and toiletries) at cost for all Members of the Respite Hotel, for the duration of the pandemic. This will reduce your exposure to public spaces.

Update: Thursday, March 12, 2020

  • Please ring the doorbell. All door codes have been temporarily suspended. Staff will accept/retrieve Members without you having to enter the Club.
  • Everyone must have their hands washed upon entry.
  • Essential visitors must sign in.
  • No one may enter if they: are showing signs of illness; have been in contact with an affected person; have travelled outside of Canada within 14 days.
